Consumer Confidence in France Edges Up in December

Consumer confidence in France posted a slight improvement at the end of 2025, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics showing an uptick in the main index during December.

The survey indicated that consumer confidence in France rose to 90 points from 89 in November, although it remained well below its long-term average of 100.

Households also showed increased willingness to save, with the savings sub-index reaching a record high of 46 points, reflecting heightened consumer caution.

Meanwhile, expectations regarding future personal financial conditions edged slightly lower, while assessments of past financial situations remained negative.

More households felt it was a better time to make major purchases, suggesting a modest recovery in spending sentiment linked to consumer confidence in France.

Despite the improvement, pessimism about the overall economic outlook deepened, underscoring ongoing concerns over growth prospects.
