Unemployment in Spain Drops Sharply to Record Lows

Unemployment in Spain recorded a sharp decline by the end of last year, signaling a solid improvement in labor market conditions and a steady recovery in economic activity.

Data from Spain’s Ministry of Labor showed that the number of registered unemployed fell by about 16,000 compared to the previous month, bringing the total to around 2.41 million in December, continuing the downward annual trend in unemployment in Spain.

On a yearly basis, unemployment dropped by more than 152,000 people, marking the 56th consecutive month of annual decline in unemployment in Spain.

While joblessness fell in the services and agriculture sectors, it rose slightly in construction and industry.

Youth unemployment also declined to a record low, with fewer than 177,000 job seekers under the age of 25.

This positive performance reflects the impact of seasonal employment programs and growing labor demand, supporting expectations of continued improvement in Spain’s labor market.
